John Foster Cousens, 51, La Cygne, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, at Richmond Healthcare. A native of Burlington, Vt., he was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and worked as a service manager for Fuqua Homes. His wife, Dixie Stuteville, preceded him in death. Survivors include his mother, Beverly Cousens of Moorehead City, N.C.; and three daughters, all from away. Memorial services were Tuesday in Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home in La Cygne. Cecilia May Douglas, 79, Paola, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, in her home. She was a lifelong Kansas City, Kan., resident until moving to Paola four years ago. Survivors include three sons, Charles Douglas, Henry Douglas and Jack Douglas, all of Lane, and three daughters, Ethel T. Bishop of Ottawa, Sarah Mead of Paola and Julie Hughes of Osawatomie. Services were Monday. Arrangements were cared for by Maple Hill Funeral Home of Kansas City, Kan.

Robert Peter Ferner, 76, Paola, formerly of Houston, Texas, and New York state, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, in his home. A native of New Jersey, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked at the World Trade Center for 20 years before retiring in 2001. Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Ferner of the home, and three children, including Theresa Lopez of Paola. Mindy Jenell Nibert, 53, Merriam, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2008, in Shawnee Mission Medical Center. A lifelong resident of the Kansas City area, she was a dispatcher for Allied Waste for three years. Survivors include her husband, Danny Nibert, and two daughters, all of the home; three siblings, including Carla Ann Collins of Osawatomie; and her stepfather, Clifford Brown of Osawatomie. Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday in Maple Hill Funeral Home, 3300 Shawnee Drive, Kansas City, KS 66106. Memorials may be made to her family in care of the funeral home.
