Firefighters respond to third Paola house fire in a week
Paola volunteer firefighters responded to another house fire Sunday, the third in just over a week.
Paola Fire Chief Andy Martin said crews were dispatched at 10:06 a.m. Sunday and arrived at 28810 Hospital Drive at 10:11 a.m. The fire was out at 10:52 a.m., and crews cleared from the scene shortly before noon.
Martin said the fire was accidentally started in a bedroom by a lighter, and it spread to the hallway.
Paola firefighters received water tender aid from Louisburg and Osawatomie, Martin said. The damage is estimated at $30,000.
Fire also damaged a home at 607 E. Miami St. on Sept. 30 and another home at 606 W. Wea St. on Sept. 27.
