Paola Middle School’s FIRST (For Inspiration, Recognition, Science and Technology) Lego League is looking for sponsors to get their project off and running at full speed.

The Lego League is a segueway into the high school Robotics team and is open to 9- through 14-year-olds. The team is made up of 10 eighth-graders, the maximum amount of students allowed on a team.

The team will research a problem where they will find certain solutions; they plan to research climate problems in the Paola area. The students hope to compete in a variety of competitions, some smaller tournaments with the hopes of making it to the regional level, which will take place at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

The team is looking for sponsors to help with entry fee costs, supplies, meals and team t-shirts. Students are currently in the process of developing a team name and theme, and they hope to have t-shirts created so the team has a ‘uniform’ they can proudly display while competing.

Businesses and/or individuals who would like to become a sponsor can contact advisor Jim Prothe by e-mail at jim_prothe@usd368.org or by calling the middle school at (913) 294-8030.
