Lunch and Learn offers pasta possibilities
This month’s Extension Lunch and Learn program, to be held from noon to 1 p.m. Sept. 17, will feature favorite pasta preparation tips, food demonstrations and samples of some very tasty pasta dishes. Miami County Extension Master Food Volunteers will be on hand to share their expertise and informational handouts with all those present.
Hot, cold, meatless or barbecued, pasta is as economical and easy as it is delicious. For a quick, satisfying meal, try some pasta, vegetables and sauce to make a very special meal in no time. Pasta is the foundation for many meals that can be served in a snap.
According to the National Pasta Association, pasta is the secret weapon of home cooks everywhere. Not only is it easy to prepare and versatile, but it’s economical, can stretch out the meat in a meal and is likely to be a hit among the children seated at the dinner table. Pasta can be served hot or cold, as a main dish or a side dish and, if there’s any left over, reheats nicely for lunch the next day. For generations, pasta has been a part of family traditions from weeknight meals to holiday feasts. From lasagna to light linguine dishes. the recipe possibilities are endless.
The program will be held at the K-State Research and Extension office at 104 S. Brayman in Paola. A fee of $1 will be collected to cover food costs and supplies. There’s no need to make a reservation, just come and bring a friend with you to enjoy the program and the tasty dishes.
