Sharks second at league meet
Raytown Tribune
The Woodson Estates Sharks swim team defeated Raintree on July 9 to close out their regular season with a perfect 5-0 mark.
The team went on to finish second that weekend in the Suburban Swim League championships.
Finishing first was Summerset, a team Woodson did not compete against this summer as the meet was rained out.
“It would have been a dogfight,” Woodson coach Eric Huntsman said.
Huntsman said the 15-18 year-old boys, 11-12 boys and 13-14 girls had particularly strong performances in the league championship for the Sharks.
He also noted many of the swimmers are at the lower end of their age bracket.
Coming into the season, Huntsman was expecting a 3-3 record with a top-five finish in the league championship.
“Obviously, next year my expectations are going to be higher,” he said with a laugh.
Huntsman, in addition to recognizing the swimmers, was also quick to recognize the contributions of the parents and those associated with the pool for success of the program.
