Patriots Bank buys Peoples branch in Paola

Patriots Bank of Garnett has entered into an agreement to purchase the Paola branch of Peoples Bank, which currently is located on the south side of Park Square.
Both banks announced the agreement in a news release Monday, which states that the transaction is expected to close in early fall, pending regulatory approval.
Peoples Bank mortgage originator and longtime Paola resident Jennifer Ferguson plans to remain with Peoples Bank but move to a new office at the branch in Louisburg, according to the news release.
“Our mission is to help our guests reach their goals, and we’re pleased to have Jennifer join us in Louisburg,” Mike Windholz, president of Peoples Bank-Miami County, wrote in the release. “We also want to thank our many consumer and business guests in Paola for their past relationship with Peoples.”
Peoples Bank has offices in Miami, Johnson, Franklin and Douglas counties, as well as offices in New Mexico.
Patriots Bank has locations in Garnett, Gardner, Princeton, Richmond, Wellsville and Westphalia. It was founded in 1898 and has branches and ATMs in Anderson, Franklin and Johnson counties.
“Our bank is supported by a strong staff of quality people who are community minded and customer focused,” Jim Cooper, chairman of Patriots Bank, wrote in the release. “Our goal is to listen to our customers and offer the best ideas for their needs.
