Technology students fare well at national contest
Samantha Kinney places fifth in Level I technical writing challenge in Orlando, Fla.
Several Louisburg High School students fared well recently in national competition.
Students involved with the school’s Technology Student Association traveled to Orlando, Fla., to compete in the 2008 National TSA Conference June 28 through July 2.
In Level I, Brad Silance, Kaleb Kasitz, Melissa Parodi and Samantha Kinney competed in individual and team events.
Silance, Kasitz and Parodi placed fourth as a team in the written portion of the technology bowl challenge, and the team placed sixth in the oral portion.
Kinney placed fifth individually in technical writing challenge.
Silance competed individually in the career challenge, dragster design challenge, electrical applications, graphic design challenge and transportation challenge.
Kasitz competed individually in electrical applications, the graphic design challenge, technical design challenge, technical writing challenge, transportation challenge and TSA multimedia.
Parodi competed in the digital photography challenge, flight challenge and prepared speech.
Kinney competed in the digital photography challenge, flight challenge, technical design challenge and technical writing challenge.
As a team, the students competed in the electronic game challenge, leadership challenge, problem solving, structural challenge, technology bowl and system control technology.
In Level II, the team of Cierra Ramirez, Marcus Kasitz and Morgan Yach placed eighth in the system control technology division.
Ramirez competed in the career comparisons, imaging technology and promotional graphics competitions.
Marcus Kasitz competed in the promotional graphics and technical sketching application competitions.
Yach competed in the extemporaneous presentation and technical sketching and application competitions.
As a team, the students competed in construction systems, structural engineering, technology bowl, technology problem solving and video game design.
