Call 911

I would like to commend Dr. Bill Hoffman on his efforts on behalf of his contractor Mike Owens, who Dr. Hoffman recognized as having signs and symptoms of a heart attack (“Good Save,” Wednesday, April 30). 

I must recommend to the general public however that whenever you are attempting to help someone who is or might be experiencing a heart attack do not attempt to drive that person to the hospital yourself. If the victim were to suffer cardiac arrest in your vehicle you will have done them more harm than good. Instead call 911.

Paramedics can begin stabilization of the patient and transport them quickly. They can also administer treatment if cardiac arrest occurs.

Lenexa suffers loss

It was with deep regret when I was informed that Lenexa had lost one of its special citizens. Mr. Eddie Bass passed on to be with the Lord and his wife, Loretta. Many Lenexans were blessed by being able to enjoy Eddie in his role as Santa Claus over the years.

I met him when he graciously volunteered to be our Santa for the annual Stonewall Inn Special Olympics Christmas party. This event allowed hundreds of Special Olympians in this area to experience a meaningful Christmas.

All of the volunteers would marvel on how Eddie’s exemplary portrayal of Santa could affect our guests. I will never forget how he could calm down a nervous (child). By the end of the party everyone would again believe in the spirit of Christmas.

Thank you Eddie for those precious moments; it is people like you who help make this such a wonderful community.

Comments outrageous

Mike Chandler makes outrageous comments in his letter. I quote, “If abortionists had any conscience at all they wouldn’t even be in the business.”

Mike, how many “abortionists” do you know? How many have you had conversations with about their conscience? Mike, you have no idea what is in their conscience. Now I wonder what’s in your conscience that you would write such trash about people you don’t even know?

Second quote, “They ask no questions how she got into her condition and they don’t care.” That’s ridiculous. Mike, how many abortion interviews have you sat in on?

What do you do for a living Mike? Do you have a conscience about how you “take advantage” of your customers? Do you ask your customers why they “got into the condition” that they would need you and your services? Do you care?
